Self care tips!

Adopting a Self-Care Routine To Improve Your Mental Health

It is important we all find some time during each day to do something special for ourselves. While “special” can certainly mean booking an expensive vacation or going on a hike across the state, small acts of kindness are important to our functionality and outlook on life. Everyone has something unique that they find important to them. Some enjoy exercise, others may enjoy relaxing and reading a good book. Whatever you find interesting, it is vital to dedicate a small (or large!) part of your day to activities that make you smile.

Here are some tips to try- these are some of my favorites!

Read one page of a new book in the morning when you wake up.

Set an alarm halfway through your work day to remember to take a 10 minute walk.

Take a warm bubble bath, filled with your favorite scent.

Use a journal to write 3 positive things that happened to you today.

Purchase a new agenda and plan special dates that are important to you.

Take yourself on a date to your favorite restaurant.

Catch up with a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a while.

Set one small goal for yourself each day and stick to it- congratulate yourself when it is complete.

Spend 10 minutes (or more!) cuddling with your favorite pet.

Give someone a compliment.

Some days it may be easier to provide “self-love” in comparison to others. Although it may difficult to find enough hours in the day, we often only need a few minutes to reset our bodies and minds. Everyone will find a unique way to smile throughout the day, but sometimes we need a little guidance.
